•We have been breeding German Shepherds for 37 years. The name of our kennel is a combination of our first 2 German Shepherds. BAron, who found us in the early 60’s, and LUkie who we acquired as a puppy. Both of these dogs had a major impact on us. Through them we learned the loyalty, trainability and companionship that this wonderful breed offered. These dogs were raised in a full house of children as we had four of our own and all their friends , plus I babysat for other children.
•BARON came to us, half starved, cut up, beat, full grown. We lived in the city at that time and he found our yard and decided to rest. I found him at 10:30 at night, hungry , thirsty, afraid of what might happen to him but willing to take a chance. After feeding him and giving him water he was my shadow. He was housebroken but untrained. His neck had the hair missing from what looked like a tow chain. When my husband came home at midnight from work, my new friend wouldn’t let him in. When told it was ok, he quickly made friends with him. We estimated his age to be around two but never new. Although he had a rough life at first, through love and training he became a wonderful member of our family. The memories we have of him and his devotion and loyalty to us have earned him the BA. We had him eleven years.
•The LU was our second German Shepherd. She was a surprise for my husband who never had a puppy to grow up with. Little did we know how she would change our lives. At eight weeks she moved in and took over. She was a puppy clown who thought everything was play for her. Housebreaking was easy. Obedience was a joke and she reveled in making us look stupid. To her down meant belly up with four legs in the air, just rub my belly please. Sit was not in her young vocabulary. As she grew up this all changed and she became a very competitive obedience dog. She earned her CD and CDX and was trained to both air and ground tracking. She loved showing off in the obedience ring and liked to clown around if she could outsmart you. She never got her UD due to a jumping accident that injured her shoulder. She loved people and children but was also an excellent protector of home and family. LU was with us for eleven and a half years and we still miss her exuberance
